There are certain situations in your life that put you in a position you do not want to be in. Compromised health, the death of a loved one, loss of employment—all of these things may cause some financial dilemmas, which in turn will compel you to find new sources of money. This is why people who deal with these types of problems often borrow money and then find it difficult to pay off. This is okay, knowing that paying off debts is technically challenging. What’s not okay is that you do not do anything to deal with it quickly and gracefully. You ought to pay your debts as soon as you can, as they will affect your credit score.

One way of doing so is through moonlighting. Earn extra money by having a second job. Whether you are looking to pay your fast cash loan in Singapore or the money you borrow from your friends, here are some of the things you need to keep in mind if you want to moonlight.

Leverage your strengths

If you want to find a job that suits you, you need to find an employer that is actually looking for your strengths. For one, if you are working as an editor during the day, you may choose to find part-time jobs about writing. You do not have to leave your field or your industry if you want to look for a part-time job. If you are an art director at an advertising agency during the day, you may consider getting assignments where you will work on storyboards.

Negotiate your value

Just because you are getting a part-time job does not mean that you are getting a much smaller income. This is not always the case, knowing that some freelancers actually earn bigger than what they get from their day employers. It will be just a matter of negotiations. You just need to slate your strengths; to make your case, you may present a portfolio of your works or your record of past accomplishments.

Plan your schedule

You are working at two jobs, and this is not going to be easy. There will be rough roads ahead, so expect that you will be tired. But to lessen your burden, you should plan your schedule carefully. Be detailed about it. For one, you can use your downtime at night to work on a project. At work, you may decide to use your lunchtime or your afternoon break to work on some parts of your assignment. Just do not forget to take care of yourself.

Talk to your primary employer

Woman shaking man's hand

If some difficulties cannot be avoided, you may want to talk to your employer. But gauge the mood of your boss, so that you will know which words to use. For one, you can negotiate to leave 30 minutes earlier than usual on a Friday. But do not abuse the favours you are getting, but instead, offer something in return, such as higher productivity.

Moonlighting is one easy way to pay off your debts as soon as possible. This is quite hard at first, especially if you are working out your schedule. But if you really want to succeed in this area, you need to be more than committed.
